I became a teacher for one reason: to positively impact the lives of all people through the magic and power of music. Music’s ability to fantasize travels far beyond what any of us can comprehend. There is nothing easy about taking people with different backgrounds, different life experiences, different places of origin, different sensibilities, different personalities, and different vocal timbres and bring these people together to form a cohesive unit that sings as one, thinks as one, breathes as one, feels as one, emotes as one, communicates as one, creates art as one. We do not achieve this by luck or desire alone. It takes constant, tireless WORK, DISCIPLINE, and INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY.
Melody has always felt called to share her love of music with students. She received her Bachelors of music education from Southwest Baptist University and has since taught music in the Rockwood School District. This included leading a before-school choir, teaching Kindergarten through 5th grade music, and directing many grade level performances. As a former homeschool student Melody feels so honored to be joining the SCCHE team as an educator. Melody and her husband, Bryan just welcomed their second child this spring and are so thankful and excited for the opportunities that the homeschool community provides.
